yesterday's close
« on: July 09, 2012, 05:34:53 pm »
hi all, I would like to add an extra filter which I cant set up in TI. I need to filter stocks, where yesterday's close is in 1/3 of yestday's trading range from low. Or at least Y close is less than Y open. I tried to use "up days" max =-1 but it still gives me some stock where close almost yesterday's high ;( thanks for any tips

Have you tried Position in Previous Days Range?

The Previous Day Range lets you compare today's price to the range from yesterday.  So a 0 in the Max column says all stocks must be below yesterday's range.

You are looking for yesterday's close specifically - not the range.

In that case I would use the Change from Yesterday's Close: http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#WSF_MinFCD we call it Up from Close and it lets you position any stock related to the close yesterday.

I see, but I need to compare yestarday close to yestarday range. I am looking for stocks, where yestarday CLOSE is near to yestarday LOW or HIGH ....

Here is the formula for a custom filter that will give you the information you are looking for.
(last_price-low_p)/(high_p-low_p)*100

In the U12 column in the Top List pictured below, a value of 100 would represent a stock closing on the high and a value of 0 would represent a stock closing on lows; 50 is in the middle.  If you set the Graphics option to position in range when setting up the custom formula, you can right click on the column and toggle between a graphical indicator and a number value.

Instructions for the formula editor can be found here: http://static.trade-ideas.com/FormulaEditor/Instructions.pdf
