Incorrect data
« on: March 23, 2014, 08:52:27 am »
Hi,

Am losing confidence is accuracy of data if you can reassure me or educate me on what I'm looking at.

http://www.trade-ideas.com/StockInfo/_StocksLikeThis.html?symbol=vod&start_date=1395385200&start_hours=9&start_minutes=30&time=5

is giving me VOD
Change in 1 Year ($)      -268.70
Change in 1 Year (%)      -87.7

How are you arriving at these figures please as it is skewing my results? I am hoping to one day use TI for automated trading...

Hi .. I will try to find an answer for you - it obviously has something to do with the VZ/VOD deal on Feb.21 - that is skewing the data by a factor of 6.

Cheers

Thank you for bringing this case to our attention.  After a review of the data, it appears you have found a very unique situation regarding VOD (& VZ as Barrie pointed out).

Here's the background:

These non-typical events sometime do require special, manual calibration of the data on our part.  Our specialty is real-time data of course.  For the purposes of building automated trading strategies, there is none finer than Jamie Hodge, our Director of Education, who  can share his real world experience filtering out the anomalies for use with our automated trading technology.
